This guide is intended to help players and families understand what to expect throughout evaluations, including:
For complete details regarding evaluation methodology, scoring, team formation procedures, injury and absence requests, governance, and policies, please refer to the HRI Evaluation & Team Formation Process which remains the governing document for all approved evaluation and team formation policies, procedures, and processes. We encourage all families to review this guide before the start of evaluations to help ensure a positive and informed experience throughout the evaluation and team formation process.

EVALUATION SESSION CHECK-IN
Players are required to check in at the evaluation check-in table prior to every evaluation event, including:
Checking in through the TeamLinkt app does not replace evaluation check-in requirements. At a player's first evaluation session, they will receive their evaluation jersey for use throughout that stage of the evaluation process.
EVALUATION REGISTRATION CHANGES
New registrations and requests to change evaluation tiers must be received no later than 72 hours prior to the first scheduled evaluation event for that tier. All requests must be accompanied by the completion of the Tier Change Request Form, which includes a $25 fee.
This deadline applies regardless of whether the first event is:
Requests received after the deadline may not be accommodated.
INDEPENDENT EVALUATORS
Evaluation scores and rankings are completed by independent evaluators and players are evaluated nameless. Coaches do not submit evaluation ratings that contribute to player rankings within divisions where they coach.
EVALUATION TECHNOLOGY
Hockey Regina utilizes SkillShark evaluation software to support anonymous evaluations, evaluator scoring, ranking compilation, and reporting.
EVALUATION JERSEYS
Players will be provided with an evaluation jersey for evaluation sessions. Jerseys must be returned following the final scrimmage of the applicable evaluation process. Jerseys not returned will be charged at a rate of $75 to your season team.
EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS
Players may not wear socks, pant shells, helmet stickers, or other removable or changeable equipment identifying previous AA teams or non-Hockey Regina teams during evaluations.
INJURY OR ABSENCE
If your player cannot attend an evaluation session due to injury or another extenuating circumstance, notification must be provided to Evaluations@hockeyregina.ca before the scheduled session. Approved absences are handled in accordance with the Evaluation & Team Formation Process.
TEAM PLACEMENT REQUESTS
Requests to place a player with or away from a specific player, coach, or team are not accepted except in documented legal, medical, disciplinary, or other exceptional circumstances as outlined in the Evaluation & Team Formation Process.
EVALUATION RESULTS REPORTING
Evaluation information will be distributed to families after team formation for the applicable division or tier has concluded. Additional evaluation information beyond that outlined in the Evaluation & Team Formation Process will not be provided.
HOW TEAM FORMATION WORKS
Following evaluations, teams are formed using either an Assign & Trade process or a Draft & Trade process, depending on the division and tier. Both processes use evaluation results and are conducted in accordance with the approved Hockey Regina Evaluation & Team Formation Process.
TEAMLINKT UPDATES
As evaluations progress, players may see changes within TeamLinkt, including:
It is normal for schedules and team assignments to temporarily disappear while team formation activities are being completed.
When team formation processes are completed, TeamLinkt notifications will be issued and schedules will reappear accordingly.
PROCESS INTERFERENCE
Parents, guardians, and spectators are expected to allow the evaluation process to proceed without interference. Individuals attempting to interfere with the evaluation process may be subject to disciplinary action. Examples of interference include but are not limited to:
Pre-Skates (U9 & U11): Optional, non-evaluated ice sessions designed to help players prepare for formal evaluations. Pre-Skates are facilitated by PEAK Hockey & Fitness and the University of Regina Cougars Women's Hockey Team.
Time Trials: Timed, station-based skating evaluations used in U9 and U11 evaluations.
Skill Sessions: Small-area battle and skill drill-based sessions designed to evaluate hockey-specific skills. Check out skill session practice plans here.
Scrimmages: Game-based sessions used to evaluate hockey sense, game play, compete level and position-specific play. Check out scrimmage formats here.
Goaltender Sessions: Position-specific evaluation sessions for registered goaltenders. Check out goalie session practice plans here.
Stage Two Scrimmages (Cutdown Scrimmages): Certain divisions include a second-stage evaluation process where eligible players continue to an additional evaluated scrimmage prior to team formation.
Taxi Squad Events: Some AA divisions include additional practices and scrimmages following initial team formation. These events are outside the scored Hockey Regina evaluation process and are used to finalize rosters based on coach selection where applicable.
